Our Quest For A New Groomer...... The Saga is over..........

As many of our members are aware our old Bombi1 is unable to meet the growing demands of our club. In an effort to remedy this situation we, at the general meeting last March, agreed to investigate the procurement of a new unit. We also agreed at the meeting in August to sell the Bombi1. The Bombi was sold in October to the Sterling Club.

The Mexico Trail Riders Board Of Directors made a road trip to Palermo and viewed the new Bell Welding Shop Trail Boss 110 T/C machine that FAST (Fulton Area Snow Travelers) recently purchased. This unit was a 1994 that was taken in on trade and refurbished and modified for tilt cab by Bell Welding.

After viewing the FAST unit, having many long discussions and making several phone call we found that Gord Bell of Bell Welding also had 2, 1997 units that he hade just recently taken in on trade. These units were slightly different do to some past modifications and hours on the clock but are functionally the same. On August 14th Andy Duschen - Groomer Procurement Committee Chairman and Club President Mark Dryden traveled to Kurtsville, Ontario Canada to review the 2 1997 units. It was discovered that the 2 machines Serial numbered 1997001 and 1997003 while functionally the same had some major difference in terms of condition and ergonomics. After reviewing these machines from top to bottom we decided that Serial Number 1997003 was the most right for us. For photos of out trip to Bells' Welding in Kurtsville, Ontario follow the links. The New unit arrived at Steve Simpelaar's farm on November 2nd at 8:30 AM.

Finally on a bright but cool sunny day, November 2nd 2001 the new groomer arrived on a truck from MTS. It was unloaded at Steve and Kathy Simpelaar's farm awaiting transport to the body shop.
